Providing Mobility & Dignity
Our club Supports the efforts and mission of Hope Haven West, a non-profit 501(c)(3) dedicated to providing mobility to the disabled poor in the developing world.
Monterey Peninsula Sunrise Rotary Club collects used and discarded wheelchairs. The wheelchairs are refurbished, and distributed to disabled children and adults in developing countries. We also distribute newly manufactured pediatric wheel chairs.
Our club members join volunteer teams (who pay all their own expenses) and travel to the receiving countries provide seating clinics. The clinics include appropriate seating options, and are supervised and directed by professional seating specialists,
Distributions have been focused primarily in South and Central America and Mexico, but we have and will conduct seatings where there is need around the world.. In July 2018 we distributed 200 chairs in Mongolia. In May 2017 we distributed 200 chairs in Peru and we will be on the team distributing 700 chairs in Mexico in the Fall of 2018.
Sunrise Rotary Club and Hope Haven West is a 100% model. We don't pay salaries. We don't pay any kind of administrative expenses. There's no advertising or promotional expenses.
We collect new and used wheelchairs. Please contact us if you have an unused wheelchair you would like to donate.
Your generous, tax-deductible gift will not only help provide people around the world with the transforming gift of mobility, but the invaluable gifts of independence, dignity, and hope.
100% of everything we collect goes to help kids and adults in the developing world discover mobility
